PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project involved the construction of a new national school for the community of Ballycroy, Co. Mayo, built on a large open site. The school is a single storey structure incorporating classrooms, kitchen, dining area, library, offices and ancillary accommodation.

 

The structure is built on a concrete raft foundation. The building structure includes concrete blockwork and structural steel columns and beams. The roof structure is a combination of flat and pitched roofs finished with a modern uPVC membrane.

 

The external finishes include traditional plaster finish to blockwork and extensive Canadian Cedar cladding. A high standard of internal finishes is involved in this project including carpets, timber flooring, and painting.

 

Site work included: a basketball court, entrance roadway, car and bus parking facilities, cast-insitu concrete fire-fighting water storage tanks, sewer connections, stone boundary walling and soft landscaping.
