About This Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Due to our proven track record and capacity to deliver the appropriate equipment and marine expertise, Mayo County Council awarded Kenaidan Contractors Ltd. the contract for the execution of remedial coastal erosion works to the main pier at Innishbiggle Island in County Mayo.

From the outset the geographical location of the project required detailed planning and organisation to allow for the safe and efficient execution of the works. Transportation of required materials and equipment from Ballycroy was carried out during low tides. Kenaidan Contractors were appointed to carry out the duties of PSCS and provide a detailed Safety Plan, Risk Assessments and Emergency Response plan.

The Kenaidan specialist equipment required consisted of 20 tonne long reach excavator and experienced operator to carry out dredging works around the main landing pier, placement of precast concrete to prevent further costal erosion along the pier and the placement of large precast concrete blocks to prevent further erosion of the road leading to the pier.

All works were all successfully executed in a very sensitive natural environment setting, close to deep water in rural isolated surroundings.
