About This Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project was completed in 2017 for St Louis Community School Board of Management. Kenaidan Contractors were awarded this project following a public procurement competition.

The works involved alterations to existing classrooms to create a new PLC learning environment. Alterations made were attentive to St Louis protected structure classification. Where alterations were made to the fabric and masonry exposed, the masonry was repaired where possible and became a feature of the finished building.

Existing and new services were exposed and painted. Fireproofing was also carried out at all new and existing service penetrations. Fit-out works included tea and coffee stations, new fire rated joinery and screens, privacy screens, health & beauty furniture and hairdressing stations.

The works were carried out within a live school environment.

Procedures were created and implemented to ensure minimal disruption was afforded to school users during the works. This included clear and robust site boundaries and access points, timely deliveries of materials, agreed access routes for vehicles and site personnel. Where works were required that may cause disruption and increased noise levels, Kenaidan’s project management team would liaise with the client’s representative and agree on a preferred window of opportunity to carry out these works.

This level of communication afforded parties the opportunity to advance their own concerns and have these addressed in a proactive manner.
