Ballina and Belmullet Cell Upgrade

  • Ballina Garda Station

About This Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project was commenced in late 2016 and was completed in early 2017. The project consisted of upgrade works to Cells in Ballina and Belmullet Garda stations. The works involved the removal of all existing cell equipment, fixture fittings and finishes. The alterations to each station’s cell area were run concurrently and were completed as a single project where the start dates were staggered by a 2-week period meaning trades could readily move from one project to the next in a timely manner. Security restrictions were present and all employees and subcontractors of Kenaidan Contractors underwent a vetting process before being permitted into the site.

Floors received an MC Duraflake epoxy coating with an integral coving system ensuring no junctions were present with sand cement rendered walls receiving an epoxy resin coating. Mechanical and Electrical fixtures and fittings were installed throughout. New Cell windows and doors were also installed to ensure all elements adhered to current OPW specifications for cells.

A site visitor log was maintained daily and submitted to C/A for their own records. As illustrated above the works are finished to a high-level finish and specification. All finishes fittings etc must adhere to non-ligature requirements.
